The main focus of the 62nd Fighting Falcons is flying in an ongoing, cooperative, campaign setting. At each month's meeting, we advance the campaign progress and report on the results.
For our current operations using Falcon 4:Allied Force we have adopted an approach whereby we leave the enemy under AI control, but take direct control over all friendly air and (to a large extent) ground operations. Our goal is to use as little AI as possible, and undertake all missions and roles personally. To aid in this we have chosen Iron Fortress as the most compact of the Falcon 4 campaign settings.
To date we have limited AI air operations to AWACS and JSTARS, plus chopper recon flights, and the occasional BARCAP to cover things while we undertake longer-range strikes.
The reports from the meetings are available below.

Sit-Rep as at Day 2 0200
The following background information and status summary is provided for the benefit of strategic planning teams, to allow them to better develop their plans for the upcoming operations.
Theatre
The overall control of the theatre is as indicated here. China is still uncommited, and the DPRK has not made any significant inroads into our enclave.

Airbases
Currently active enemy airbases are shown here:

Seosan and Kunsan are only partially operational. All airbases shown have active combat-aircraft squadrons.
UN airbases operating F-16 squadrons are shown here:

Air Defences
Enemy Air defences and low-level radar coverage are shown here:

Low-level radar coverage

Battlefront
The current FLOT, showing key bridges, is shown here. Of the bridges marked, all have been destroyed, save the Jinan-dong bridges in the north-east, and the Yeonghae bridge in the north-east (which is partially operational).

Ground Forces
The current disposition of known ground forces is as shown here:

Naval Forces
Current known naval forces in the area are shown here. Of particular interest are the cargo vessels to the north-east, and the destroyer group to the south-west.

Campaign Data
The current campaign status can be downloaded from here. The files should be placed in your Campaign/Korea2005 folder. |

I read on Frugals the following conditions to win a campaign.
IRON FORTRESS: - DPRK win -> Control ALL of: Seoul, Chuncheon, Weonju, Taegu, Cheongju, Taejon, Kwangju, Pusan
- ROK/US win (Regain all territory in South Korea) -> Control ALL of: Seoul, Chuncheon, Weonju, Taegu, Cheongju, Taejon, Kwangju, Pusan.
Based on that, we have a lot of interesting missions ahead of us.

I think our first mission should be to strike the ground forces on the east coast. It appears there are still a fair number of red forces close to our troops. The second mission might be to strike at the SAM sites to the NW while most of the nearby airbases are down. This will give us greater freedom when we task missions along that corridor. I also think we should move engineering units towards bridges we might consider repairing in the future. Moving them now will avoid delays if the opportunity to move forward presents itself.

We don't have much in the way of powerful ground forces to launch assaults for the purposes of recapturing the South. I think any ground offensives would therefore need to be made in one of two ways:
a. Hit the DPRK troops ahead of any advances hard with our airpower before the ground assault.
b. Use our airmobile troops to recapture weakly defended areas behind the FLOT.

Air mobile could be fun. We could plan to hit an area just before the air drop. We effectively would provide air support for the air drop & CAS support for the troops before & after.
Will have to find those notes on how to prepare Air mobile missions.
