The main focus of the 62nd Fighting Falcons is flying in an ongoing, cooperative, campaign setting. At each month's meeting, we advance the campaign progress and report on the results.
For our current operations using Falcon 4:Allied Force we have adopted an approach whereby we leave the enemy under AI control, but take direct control over all friendly air and (to a large extent) ground operations. Our goal is to use as little AI as possible, and undertake all missions and roles personally. To aid in this we have chosen Iron Fortress as the most compact of the Falcon 4 campaign settings.
To date we have limited AI air operations to AWACS and JSTARS, plus chopper recon flights, and the occasional BARCAP to cover things while we undertake longer-range strikes.
The reports from the meetings are available below.

Phase 3: Consolidation
Operations between day 1 1700 and day 1 2200 saw us consolidating our defensive position. Enemy engineers were labouring to reactivate their southern bases, while we alternated between striking their front-line troops and disrupting their repair efforts.
Mission 1: Another Double Tap
| Target: |
Runways at Chongju Airbase and Choongwong Airbase |
| Duration: |
1710 - 1800 |
| Aircraft: |
4xF-16C-52 Kimhae (Michael, Steve, Todd, Mark) |
| Result: |
Target destroyed |
| Kills: |
1 |
| Losses: |
1 (Rescued) |
|
Description:
|
The two closest airbases to the north-west were deemed to be high priority targets. Given their close proximity, a single mission was tasked with putting both out of action. Durandals were used in both cases, with the first airbase being hit by Michael and Todd, while the second was hit by Mark and Steve. In both cases the pilots were successful in their attacks, but at the first airbase Todd was struck by AAA fire and forced to eject as he egressed. Mark also came under heavy SAM attack at the second airbase, but survived.

|
Mission 2: Slow Them Down
| Target: |
Advancing enemy forces to the north-west |
| Duration: |
1840 - 1905 |
| Aircraft: |
4xF-16C-40 Pusan (Michael, Mark, Steve, Todd) |
| Result: |
Mild damage inflicted |
| Kills: |
6 (artillery & trucks) |
| Losses: |
1 MIA |
|
Description:
|
During the previous mission, significant concentrations of enemy forces were reported to the north west. In order to help slow down the enemy advance, an attack against those forces was planned. AAA fire was heavy in the area, with one aircraft being shot down, and all others returning with various degrees of damage. Enemy losses were mild.
|
Mission 3: Don't Get Up
| Target: |
Runways and facilities at Kunsan Airbase |
| Duration: |
1930 - 2030 |
| Aircraft: |
4xF-16C-50 Pusan (Steve, Todd, Michael, Mark) |
| Result: |
Significant damage to the target |
| Kills: |
7 (APCs, artillery & radar) |
| Losses: |
2 MIA |
|
Description:
|
Intelligence reported that enemy engineers were working franticly to get Kunsan airbase operational again. A follow-up strike was planned to ensure that they were not going to get the base active any time soon. Although that goal was acheived, losses were heavy, with Mark going down to AAA fire after the first pass. On egress, Steve engaged a nearby SA-2 unit with the HARMs he was carrying, and was shot down (though he did destroy the unit's radar in the process).
|
Mission 4: Let Them Eat Cake
| Target: |
Engineering battalion east of Yechong |
| Duration: |
2045 - 2140 |
| Aircraft: |
3xF-16C-50 Pusan (Michael, Mark, Steve) |
| Result: |
Target unit destroyed |
| Kills: |
12 (trucks) |
| Losses: |
none |
|
Description:
|
To further reduce the threat from the north-west, a strike against an enemy resupply convoy was planned. Over the course of ten minutes, the entire convoy was destroyed using Mavericks and cluster bombs, with no losses or damage.

|
Phase Summary
As a result of the missions this phase, there is no longer any immediate ground threat in the north-east sector, and enemy air activity to the west. Subsequent activity can concentrate on potential ground threats in the north-east and south-west, and continuing to suppress enemy air activity. |
