For many years, the 62nd Fighting Falcons has put on public displays, showing off what we do, and fostering the hobby of air combat simulation. In the past we have displayed at the Australian International Airshow (including in the ADF's 75th anniversary display), at local airshows in Brisbane, and at LAN meetings. Our displays are all voluntary, and not-for-profit. We use our own equipment and resources, but rely on the event organisers to donate the space and facilities (anything else they are willing to donate is also accepted gratefully!)
Invariably, we have drawn large crowds, and had very positive responses about the professionalism and standard of our displays.
A typical display involves four mock-up cockpits and a large projector screen. On roughly an hourly basis club members will fly a demonstration mission. While the mission proceeds, an external view of the action is displayed on the projection screen, and a narrator explains the action, simulated systems, and club operation to the audience.

Amberley Airshow 2008
Over the weekend on the 4th and 5th October 2008, the 62nd staged a display showcasing the club's LAN campaign operations using Falcon 4 Allied Force. We had five cockpits operating for the weekend, running in a continuing Korea 2005 Iron Fortress campaign setting. The exact count of sorties flown over the two days is uncertain, but I had log files for at least sixteen missions on my computer alone.
A great deal of interest was shown in the club activities, and it is hoped that we will gain a number of new members as a result. Indeed, if you are reading this as a visitor to the website and you saw our display at Amberley, please get in contact with us - either using the details you got at the airshow, or through the website's "Contact the CO" page. If we get enough interest, we will be organising a series of training days to help get newcomers up to speed with Falcon 4.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all of the members who contributed their time and energy to making the display a success, with a special mention for Alan Gray, who travelled up from Sydney to be with us! Thanks also to Ross Farquharson, for his efforts in liasing with the RAAF to obtain such an excellent display facility. Finally thanks must go to the RAAF organisers who so generously provided the facilities and opportunity for us to put on a display!
